Bee Gees Robin Gibb showing signs of life

LONDON, April 21 (UPI) -- Singer Robin Gibb, who is in a coma at a London hospital suffering from cancer and pneumonia, has shown "flickers of life," The Sun reported.

The 62-year-old music legend slipped into a coma last week and was reported to be near death, but a source close to the singer said Thursday there have been signs of recovery. The source told The Sun family members have been playing music to Gibb and elder brother Barry even sang at his bedside.

"There were flickers of life from Robin. His eyes moved and there was an attempt at speech.

"It was a good sign he is fighting hard for his life but he is certainly not out of the woods yet. The family have to remain very cautious," the source said.

Gibb, who said in February he was making a recovery from cancer, was later readmitted to the hospital for intestinal surgery.

Doctors discovered cancer of the colon and liver during bowel surgery 18 months ago, but it was thought his cancer was in remission.

However, a secondary tumor was found, The Daily Telegraph said.
