SANTA MONICA, Calif., April 18 (UPI) -- American rock band Blues Traveler plans to celebrate its 25th anniversary with the release of a new album, 429 Records said Wednesday.

"Suzie Cracks the Whip," the band's 11th CD, goes on sale June 26.

Blues Traveler is booked to perform a handful of shows this spring and summer, before joining a major U.S. concert tour with Barenaked Ladies, Cracker and Big Head Todd & the Monsters in July.

"I love these guys like my family but after writing the same way with the same people for 25 years, it was good to find a new outlet and take a different approach," Blues Traveler front man John Popper said in a statement about his band-mates. "Likewise, [the production team of Sam Hollander and Dave 'Sluggo' Katz] helped remind us about what was cool about Blues Traveler in the first place. It's easy to forget what's cool about yourself after so many years of being you."
