SANTA MONICA, Calif., March 27 (UPI) -- American alternative rock band Soul Asylum is putting the finishing touches on a new album to be released this summer, 429 Records announced.
"Delayed Reaction," the group's first CD in six years, is set for release July 17.
The band includes founders Dave Pirner and Dan Murphy alongside ex-Replacements and ex-Guns N' Roses bassist Tommy Stinson -- who replaced original member Karl Mueller when he died of cancer in 2006 -- and former Prince drummer Michael Bland.
"Delayed Reaction" was recorded in Los Angeles, New Orleans and Minneapolis, the city where the band was established in 1983. Soul Asylum is planning a concert tour to support the new CD.
"It feels like approaching it as an album and a thing that has a sequence, and a thing that is a piece of work in itself is almost an archaic process," Pirner said Monday in a statement. "Honestly, it's more organic. Even though you're using some of this newer technology, the fact that you're doing it yourself is what made it take so long and the process unique, this time."
