Glen Campbell set for Grammy honor

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Dec. 21 (UPI) -- The Recording Academy says it will honor Glen Campbell and the Allman Brothers Band with Lifetime Achievement Awards at a ceremony in Los Angeles.

Also to be presented with the career honors are Antonio Carlos Jobim, George Jones, the Memphis Horns, Diana Ross and Gil Scott-Heron.

Dave Bartholomew, the late Steve Jobs and Rudy Van Gelder have been named Trustees Award honorees, as well.

"This year's honorees offer a variety of brilliance, contributions and lasting impressions on our culture," President/Chief Executive Officer of The Recording Academy Neil Portnow said in a statement. "It is an honor to recognize such a diverse group of individuals whose talents and achievements have had an indelible impact on our industry."

The ceremony is to be held during Grammy Week on Feb. 11. A formal acknowledgment will be made during the 54th annual Grammy Awards telecast, which will be held at Staples Center in Los Angeles Feb. 12, the academy said.
