LOS ANGELES, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Canadian pop star Justin Bieber said Friday on the "Today" show in New York he has never met the woman who claims he fathered her son.

Mariah Yeater is suing the 17-year-old singer for financial support for her 3-month-old son, Tristyn. The 20-year-old California woman has said she became pregnant when she had sex with Bieber after a Los Angeles concert last year.

Bieber's lawyer this week denied the allegations in a statement. The recording star addressed the story directly for the first time Friday.

"Never met the woman," Bieber said on "Today."

"I'd just like to say, basically, that none of those allegations are true," he added. "I know that I'm going to be a target, but I'm never going to be a victim."

Yeater has said Bieber's security guards invited her to meet him backstage before they had sex, another element of the story the singer has denied.

"It's crazy," Bieber said. "Every night after the show, I'm gone right from the stage right to the car, so it's crazy that some people want to make such false allegations. ... To set the record straight: None of it is true."
