Class 5 Films and Olympus Pictures announced Moore's casting Monday.

Blumberg was nominated for a 2010 Academy Award for his screenplay for "The Kids Are All Right." He is directing "Sharing," which began principal photography in New York late last month.

"Alecia could not be a more ideal fit for this role," Blumberg said in a statement. "She carries with her just the right combination of heart and edginess for the part of Dede, and we're incredibly excited to share her acting talent with audiences."

"Thanks for Sharing" is described in a synopsis as "a dramatic comedy about a group of unlikely friends brought together through their shared determination to recover from sex addiction and forge meaningful relationships for the first time in their lives."
