WASHINGTON, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- President Obama joked to a gay-rights group in Washington Saturday about his meeting with their leader -- Lady Gaga.

The commander in chief met the pop princess last week during a fundraising swing through California and told members of the Human Rights Campaign at their annual dinner he was duly impressed.

"She was wearing 16-inch heels. She was 8 feet tall," Obama said. "It was a little intimidating."

USA Today noted Gaga herself was in the audience Saturday and stood up to acknowledge the acknowledgement.

Gaga has spoken out publicly against bullying of homosexual teenagers.

"Every single American deserves to be treated equally in the eyes of the law and in the eyes of our society," Obama told the audience.
