'Ghost the Musical' coming to Broadway

NEW YORK, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- The producers of "Ghost the Musical" announced Monday the production will open in New York on Broadway some time next spring.

With the book Bruce Joel Rubin adapted from the screenplay he wrote for the 1990 movie starring Demi Moore and the late Patrick Swayze, the musical is to open April at an undetermined Nederlander Theater, The New York Times reported.

The Broadway production of "Ghost the Musical" will feature a score by Dave Stewart from the Eurythmics and award-winning producer Glen Ballard, who worked on Alanis Morrisette's "Jagged Little Pill" album.

The Broadway cast has not been selected yet.

It will also be directed by Tony Award-winner Matthew Warchus who is currently helming the West End production of "Ghost the Musical" at London's Piccadilly Theater.

That production has not received the best of reviews.

"[It] is full of flash and noise and blinding lights [and] yet somehow it simply isn't there," the Times wrote.

"Ghost the Musical" on Broadway will be produced by Colin Ingram Productions Limited and David Garfinkle with Adam Silberman; Land Line Productions, Donovan Mannato, Michael Edwards & Carole Winter in association with Paramount Pictures Corporation and ATG/Robert G. Bartner.
