LONDON, July 23 (UPI) -- Troubled British singer Amy Winehouse, 27, was found dead Saturday at her north London home, the BBC reported.

The BBC said a Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed a 27-year-old woman had died in the Camden area, but that the cause of death was not yet explained.

London Ambulance Service told the broadcaster it had been called to the singer's apartment, and sent two vehicles, but the victim had died.

Winehouse, who won a Grammy in 2008 for her song "Rehab" from her second album "Back to Black," has had a long struggle with alcohol and drugs, and pulled out of a European comeback tour last month.

Winehouse canceled the tour after being booed at her first concert in Serbia. The BBC said she appeared too drunk to perform.

The BBC said she had recently finished alcohol rehabilitation in London and was under strict orders not to drink.
