Placido Domingo honored in Russia

MOSCOW, July 22 (UPI) -- Spanish opera great Placido Domingo has been honored with the Order of Friendship title in Russia, ITAR-Tass reported Friday.

The decree for the famous tenor was signed by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

Domingo, 70, was honored "for a great contribution in the development of Russian-Spanish cooperation in the art of music," the Russian presidential press service said.
