Adele, Elbow up for Mercury Prize

LONDON, July 20 (UPI) -- Albums by Adele, Katy B. and Elbow are among the 12 nominees for Britain's 2011 Mercury Prize, organizers announced.

The $32,000 award is to be presented Sept. 6, the BBC said. It is given to the artist from the United Kingdom and Ireland with the best album.

Those nominated for it are Adele's "21"; Katy B.'s "On a Mission"; James Blake's "James Blake"; Anna Calvi's "Anna Calvi"; King Creosote & Jon Hopkins' "Diamond Mine"; and Elbow's "Build a Rocket Boys!"

Also in the running for the award are Everything Everything's "Man Alive"; Ghostpoet's "Peanut Butter Blues and Melancholy Jam"; PJ Harvey's "Let England Shake"; Metronomy's "The English Riviera"; Gwilym Simcock's "Good Days at Schloss Elmau"; and Tinie Tempah's "Disc-Overy."
