Tone Loc pleads innocent to gun charge

BURBANK, Calif., July 15 (UPI) -- Anthony Smith, the rapper known professionally as Tone Loc, has pleaded innocent to weapons and domestic violence charges, Burbank, Calif., court records show.

Smith, 45, is best known for his songs "Funky Cold Medina" and "Wild Thing."

The Los Angeles Times said he entered his innocent plea Thursday in Burbank Superior Court.

Smith was charged with felony possession of an assault weapon and domestic violence after he was arrested last month following an alleged altercation with an unidentified woman.

Police investigating the domestic violence complaint allegedly found Smith in possession of an unregistered Colt AR-15 Sporter, the Times said.

Smith is due back in court July 28.
