SANTA MONICA, Calif., May 27 (UPI) -- Music from the much-talked about Broadway show "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" is set for release on CD next month, Interscope Records said.

The album, due out June 14, will feature 14 songs co-written by U2's Bono and The Edge for the stage production.

The CD is produced by Steve Lillywhite and the songs are performed by the cast -- including Reeve Carney in the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Jennifer Damiano in the role of Mary Jane, T.V. Carpio as Arachne and Patrick Page as the Green Goblin -- with contributions from Bono and The Edge and music performed by the production's 20-member orchestra, the record label said Thursday.

The release date coincides with the official opening night of the Broadway show.

The $70 million musical resumed performances this month after closing for three weeks so its creative team could work out technical bugs and story issues.

Its official opening night was postponed numerous times after it began previews last fall at Manhattan's Foxwoods Theatre.

Although it has received largely negative reviews from the press, tickets have been selling briskly, the show's producers have said.
