LOS ANGELES, April 20 (UPI) -- The U.S. indie rock band TV on the Radio says its bassist Gerard Smith died of lung cancer Wednesday. He was 34.
"We are very sad to announce the death of our beloved friend and band-mate, Gerard Smith, following a courageous fight against lung cancer," the group said on its Web site. "We will miss him terribly."
The band said it has canceled all its concert dates from Wednesday until next Tuesday.
Smith has been with the group since 2005.
