Paul McDonald eliminated from 'Idol'

LOS ANGELES, April 15 (UPI) -- Paul McDonald became the first male contestant eliminated from the top 13 on "American Idol" in Los Angeles.

The 26-year-old singer-songwriter from Alabama got the boot Thursday night after 53 million viewer votes were cast, following his performance Wednesday of "Old Time Rock and Roll."

"It's OK, man, it's OK," E! News quoted McDonald as saying upon learning his fate.

"It's been fun, a good time," he added. "A good ride, you know?"

The Season 10 judges are Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez. Ryan Seacrest is the show's host.
