NEW YORK, April 4 (UPI) -- Songwriter and record producer Cowboy Jack Clement is to appear in "Million Dollar Quartet" for one night, the Broadway musical's producers said Monday.

Clement was the engineer for the 1956 Sun Records recording session of Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis in Memphis.

He is to join the cast during the finale of the April 21 performance of "Quartet," a Tony Award-nominated musical based on that historic session.

"Without Cowboy Jack, Presley, Cash, Lewis and Perkins' impromptu recording session would never have been documented on tape," said a news release announcing Clement's appearance.

The session was the only time in their careers the four immensely popular musicians performed together.
