'Idol' judges use one-time save

LOS ANGELES, March 24 (UPI) -- The judges on "American Idol" used their once-a-season save option to keep Casey Abrams from being eliminated from the singing competition show.

Abrams, who was among the three performers with the least amount of votes from the public Thursday, was told of the judges' decision to save him shortly after he started singing "I Don't Need No Doctor," EW.com reported.

Judge Randy Jackson stopped Abrams' performance by waving his hand.

"This is crazy wrong," judge Steven Tyler told Abrams. "We've made the decision here to keep you on."
