Aretha to play Seneca Niagara Casino

NIAGRA FALLS, N.Y., Feb. 22 (UPI) -- New York's Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel has announced Aretha Franklin will make her return to the concert stage there May 28.

The Queen of Soul has been booked to perform at the Seneca Niagara Events Center, the venue said.

Recently honored at the Grammy Awards show with a multi-artist tribute, Franklin said in a recent interview she is back at "150 percent" for her upcoming shows after battling an undisclosed illness and canceling most of her engagements for several months.

Franklin helped debut the Seneca Niagara Events Center and Seneca Niagara Casino's 357-foot hotel tower with a New Year's Eve 2005-2006 performance and is a frequent guest of the property, the venue said Tuesday in a news release.

Her performance in May will kick off a summer series of concerts at the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel and its sister property, the Seneca Allegany Casino & Hotel, located in Southwest New York.
