5 Browns sisters say dad molested them

SALT LAKE CITY, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- The father of the 5 Browns, a sibling piano quintet, has been charged in Utah with molesting his daughters.

While the charges were filed last week, they only became public after Keith Brown, 55, was seriously injured in a Valentine's Day car crash, The Salt Lake Tribune reported. Brown and his wife were returning from dinner at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort when his car skidded off the road.

The Browns, three sisters and two brothers, are now adults. The daughters, Desirae, 32, Deondra, 30, and Melody, 26, all say their father sexually abused them when they were underage, Kimball Thomson, a spokesman for the group, said. He told the newspaper Wednesday the sisters agreed to allow their names to be used.

A source told the Tribune the sisters decided to go to police when they learned their father was trying to manage child musicians again. He stopped managing the 5 Browns in 2008.

The Browns, who began taking piano lessons at age 3, all attended Juilliard in New York. They have released several records and specialize in light classical works.
