Legend to headline St. Lucia jazz fest

CASTRIES, Saint Lucia, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Recording artist John Legend has been booked to headline this year's St. Lucia Jazz Festival, organizers said.

The singer, songwriter and pianist has sold more than 5 million albums, featuring such hit singles as "Ordinary People," "Used to Love U," "So High," "Save Room," "Heaven" and "Another Again."

In addition to Legend, the Saint Lucia Jazz Festival lineup includes singer-songwriter Ledisi; jazz violinist Regina Carter; the band Bad Ass Brass; American funk and jazz saxophonist Maceo Parker; and the Saint Lucian Collective, an ensemble of Saint Lucian's jazz icons. The festival is to run from April 30 to May 8.

"Year after year we welcome thousands of visitors from all corners of the globe to our legendary island to celebrate the premier voices in the music industry," St. Lucia Director of Tourism Louis Lewis said in a statement Tuesday. "We're thrilled to be marking our 20th anniversary with another sensational lineup."
