Lovato, Welch reach agreement over punch

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 25 (UPI) -- Disney Channel star Demi Lovato reached a settlement with Alex Welch, the dancer she punched while on tour in South America with the Jonas Brothers, Welch said.

Lovato, 18, has been in treatment for emotional and physical issues since the October incident, People reported.

"I'm happy. We came to an agreement and I'm ready to move on," said Alex "Shorty" Welch, a member of the all-female dance crew, Beat Freaks. "I'm ready to start working again."

Welch said she was punched after tour managers confronted Lovato about her behavior on the tour. Welch sustained a black eye and bruised cheek.

Lovato's representatives refused to comment on the settlement, but Welch, 21, said part of the settlement would be donated to charity.

"That's important," Welch said.
