Wilson Phillips Christmas CD on its way

NEW YORK, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- The U.S. pop trio Wilson Phillips has reunited to record its first Christmas album, the music label Sony Masterworks said Thursday.

Set for release Tuesday, the CD will feature 13 holiday songs produced by Glen Ballard, who previously collaborated with Wilson Phillips members Carnie Wilson, Wendy Wilson and Chynna Phillips on their self-titled 1990 debut album, which sold more than 10 million copies and featured the hits "Hold On," "Release Me" and "You're in Love."

The group broke up in the early 1990s and have reunited since for only occasional projects.

"At a different stage in all of their lives, the trio of Wilson Phillips is excited to finally be back together and musically share the joy, love and happiness of the holiday season not only with their families, but with their fans, too," the label said in a news release. "One of the most popular 90's pop groups, Wilson Phillips have created a classic holiday album filled with 13 Christmas songs, including 'Silver Bells,' 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town,' 'Winter Wonderland,' 'The Christmas Song' and many more.There are also a few newly written Christmas songs -- 'Joy,' which the three ladies composed, and 'Christmastime,' which Chynna and Glen Ballard wrote together."
