Handler to host 2010 MTV VMAs

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Comedian and talk-show host Chelsea Handler has signed on to preside over the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles, the network said on its Web site.

The event is to take place Sept. 12 at the Nokia Theatre.

"Everyone knows that when you think of rap music and hip-hop you think of 'Chelsea Lately.' And that's why I will be hosting (the show,)" Handler remarked on Wednesday's edition of her late-night talk show "Chelsea Lately."
