TOKYO, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Singer Deryck Whibley has been hospitalized after three people assaulted him in a Japanese bar, his band Sum 41 announced on its Web site Friday.
The incident is under police investigation.
The band didn't give details about Whibley's injuries or the location of the assault, but E! News said the musicians stated Whibley's "unfortunately still in the hospital" and his friends are "waiting for results and hoping for the best."
Sum 41 was scheduled to perform at the Summer Sonic Festival this weekend in Osaka and Tokyo, E! News said.
