Early Graves singer killed in Oregon crash

CENTRAL PONT, Ore., Aug. 3 (UPI) -- The lead singer for the death-metal band Early Graves was killed when the driver of the group's van fell asleep and crashed the vehicle in Oregon, police said.

KTVL-TV, Medford, Ore. reported Justin H. Garcia, 24, was driving the van, carrying nine members of the California bands Early Graves and The Funeral Pyre, when he nodded off and lost control of it on Interstate 5 in Central Point early Monday.

Early Graves vocalist Makh "Matikeef" P. Daniels, 28, was ejected from a rear cargo area and killed, the report said.

Garcia, a guitarist for The Funeral Pyre, and passenger Tyler S. Jensen, 21, the guitarist for Early Graves, were treated by Rogue Valley Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries, the TV station said.
