LOS ANGELES, June 26 (UPI) -- Joe Jackson's lawyer said he filed a wrongful death lawsuit in Los Angeles Friday against his late son Michael's personal physician, court records show.

The 50-year-old recording artist died of an overdose of the anesthetic drug propofol on June 25, 2009. Jackson's personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, is awaiting trial on an involuntary manslaughter charge in the singer's death. He reportedly has acknowledged he gave the musician the drug to help him sleep.

CNN reported Joe Jackson's lawsuit seeks unspecified damages and claims Murray gave paramedics and doctors false information about the types of drugs the pop singer had been given, therefore, hindering attempts to revive him in an ambulance and at UCLA Medical Center.

The documents filed Friday also alleged Murray delayed calling paramedics for more than an hour after finding Jackson unresponsive because he was hiding evidence of drugs he had been administering him, CNN said.
