NEW YORK, June 18 (UPI) -- Lyrics autographed by rock 'n' roll icon John Lennon were sold for $1.2 million at an auction Friday in New York, Sotheby's said.

CNN reported a private U.S. collector bought the hand-written lyrics for the Beatles song "A Day in the Life," which also bore Lennon's signature.
