LOS ANGELES, May 28 (UPI) -- "American Idol" runner-up Chrystal Bowersox says she and her boyfriend parted ways before this week's finale.
Bowersox said she and Tony Kusian mutually decided to break up hours before the final performance night Wednesday, People magazine reported Thursday.
"Tony went home. He wasn't cool with the lifestyle," the Elliston, Ohio, native said Thursday on "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest's radio show.
"I want this more than anything -- this career, this lifestyle," she said. "I didn't think he was up for it. He didn't think he was up for it."
Kusian told People living in Los Angeles, where "Idol" is produced, was tough.
"Some days are more fun than others," he said. "But it's been hard to find friends out there. I want to keep it low key. I don't need the attention."
While disappointed about the split, Bowersox said she expected she and Kusian would be friends "for a long time."
