LOS ANGELES, May 21 (UPI) -- Hip-hop producer Marion "Suge" Knight was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
The co-founder of Death Row Records is accused of brandishing a gun at an unidentified man. He was also charged with driving with a suspended license.
MTV.com said Knight was arrested and charged Thursday after witnesses called police to report the alleged incident.
Few details were released to the public and Knight's publicist said only that the investigation is continuing, the Web site said.
The Los Angeles Times said Knight was released on bail.
MTV.com said bail was set at $65,000.
Knight has numerous previous arrests for weapons, assault and drug charges, and has done stints in jail from time to time.
