'Tonight' hires new musical director

LOS ANGELES, April 14 (UPI) -- NBC has hired "American Idol" music director Rickey Minor to replace outgoing band leader Kevin Eubanks on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," E! News said.

Minor's first night on the job reportedly will be June 7.

He is set to start the new gig after the current season of "Idol" wraps.

Eubanks, who has worked for "Tonight" for 18 years, is to leave the show May 28 to focus on his own music.
