Knack singer Doug Fieger dies at 57

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Doug Fieger, best known as the singer on The Knack's hit record "My Sharona," has died of cancer in Woodland Hills, Calif., his family said. He was 57.

Fieger's brother, attorney Geoffrey Fieger, told the Detroit News Doug Fieger had been living in Woodland Hills and was being treated for cancer at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

"My Sharona" was a No. 1 record for The Knack in 1979.

Doug Fieger told the newspaper in a January interview he knew he didn't have much longer to live.

"Everybody knows they're going sooner or later," he told columnist Neal Rubin. "I don't know any better than anyone else when I'm going.

"I've had 10 great lives. And I expect to have some more. I don't feel cheated in any way, shape or form."
