LOS ANGELES, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Mariah Carey picked up the People's Choice Award for favorite R&B artist at a ceremony in Los Angeles Wednesday night. "Thank you so much for this award. It really, really, really means so much to me because it's from my fans. And my real fans know that they are my extended family and I love them so much," the recording artist said.

Keith Urban won the prize for favorite male artist.
"Thank you to just everybody that voted for this; I really appreciate it and everybody watching at home, too," he said. "This means everything to me."
Taylor Swift earned the gong for favorite female artist.
"What a beautiful, beautiful way to start out a new decade. Thank you so much," Swift said.
Lady Gaga was named favorite pop artist and breakout artist, while Carrie Underwood took home the trophy for favorite country artist.
