Stephen Gately to be buried in Dublin

DUBLIN, Ireland, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- A funeral for Irish pop star Stephen Gately has been set for Saturday in Dublin, a family spokesman said.

The 33-year-old Boyzone singer was found dead in his vacation home last weekend on the Spanish island of Majorca. He reportedly had spent the previous night out drinking with his civil partner, Andrew Cowles.

An autopsy performed on Gately's body showed he died of natural causes -- acute pulmonary edema.

Louis Walsh, the band's creator, told the BBC he plans to attend Gately's funeral and doesn't know if he will be back in England in time to appear on Saturday night's edition of the TV talent competition series, "The X Factor," for which he serves as a judge.

Walsh has described Gately as a "great, great professional" and said the other Boyzone members are "devastated" by his unexpected death.

"It's like they have lost their very, very best friend, and me, too," Walsh said.

A private wake is expected to take place in Gately's family home Friday, the BBC said.
