M. Cyrus urged by father to rejoin Twitter

NEW YORK, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- U.S. pop star Miley Cyrus should get back on Twitter and use the social networking service to inspire her fans, her father, singer Billy Ray Cyrus, says.

The elder Cyrus responded to his 16-year-old daughter's decision to close her Twitter account by posting a message on the networking service urging her to reconsider her decision, the New York Daily News reported Friday.

"Miley. You are a light in a world of darkness. You were born 'Destiny Hope Cyrus' for a reason," Billy Ray Cyrus wrote Thursday night. "You can't leave everyone now."

Miley Cyrus said in her Twitter sign-off Thursday that she was closing her Twitter account for her rumored boyfriend, actor Liam Hemsworth, who is known to be a non-tweeter.

Cyrus's father added in his posting that his daughter should follow her own lyrics and rejoin the online service to inspire fans.

"I understand 'it is true one bad apple spoils the bunch,'" Cyrus, 48, said. "But listen to the words of your songs 'Stand ... for what ya believe in' ... . Remember?"
