'Doctor Strange' tops North American box office for 3rd weekend

May 22 (UPI) -- Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness -- starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen -- is the No. 1 movie in North America for a third weekend, earning an additional $31.6 million in receipts, BoxOfficeMojo.com announced Sunday.

Coming in at No. 2 is Downton Abbey: A New Era with $16 million, followed by The Bad Guys at No. 3 with $6.1 million, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 at No. 4 with $3.9 million and Men at No. 5 with $3.3 million.

Rounding out the top tier are Everything Everywhere All at Once at No. 6 with $3.1 million, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore at No. 7 with $1.905 million, Firestarter at No. 8 with $1.9 million, The Lost City at No. 9 with $1.5 million and The Northman at No. 10 with $1 million.

This week's Top 10 movies earned a total of about $70.4 million. Last weekend's Top 10 racked up about $89 million in receipts.
