June 24 (UPI) -- Matthew McConaughey's Buster Moon needs to recruit Bono's reclusive rock legend Clay Calloway in the new trailer for upcoming animated sequel, Sing 2.

Buster and his crew, which includes Rosita (Reese Witherspoon), Ash (Scarlett Johansson), Meena (Tori Kelly), Johnny (Taron Egerton) and Gunter (Nick Kroll), want to perform at the prestigious Crystal Tower Theater in the clip released on Thursday.

The theater's villainous owner Jimmy Crystal (Bobby Cannavale) will only be allowed onstage if they can bring in Clay, who has stopped performing following the death of his wife.

"I haven't even heard one of my songs in over 15 years and for good reason," Clay, a lion, says when approached by Buster and Ash.

The group will have to band together in order to put on the show of a lifetime at the Crystal Tower Theater as Clay grapples with returning to music.

"What begins as a dream of big-time success becomes an emotional reminder of the power of music to heal even the most broken heart," reads the synopsis.
