Christina Ricci joins cast of 'The Matrix 4'

June 7 (UPI) -- Christina Ricci has been cast in Warner Bros. Pictures' upcoming sci-fi action sequel, The Matrix 4.

Ricci's casting became official after her name was quietly added to an updated press kit for the film by Warner Bros.

The film and Ricci's role are being kept under wraps. The Matrix 4 is coming to theaters and HBO Max on Dec. 22.

Keanu Reeves is returning to the franchise as Neo with Carrie Ann-Moss as Trinity and Jada Pinkett-Smith as Niobe.

Co-stars include Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Priyanka Chopra, Neil Patrick Harris, Jonathan Groff, Jessica Henwick, Brian J. Smith, Telma Hopkins, Eréndira Ibarra, Max Riemelt and Toby Onwumere.

Lana Wachowski is directing the film, after she helmed the three previous entries with her sister Lilly Wachowski. Lana Wachowski penned the script with David Mitchell and Aleksander Hemon.

Ricci worked with The Wachowskis on their 2008 live-action adaptation of Speed Racer, where she portrayed Trixie. The actress is also known for starring in The Addams Family, Casper, Sleepy Hollow, Monster, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and more.

Ricci recently provided voice work on new Showtime anthology series, Cinema Toast.
