Bruce Campbell, Sam Raimi producing 'Evil Dead Rise' film

May 26 (UPI) -- Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi are producing a new Evil Dead project for New Line.

Campbell starred in three installments of the 40-year-old Evil Dead film franchise, as well as the recent TV series, Ash vs. Evil Dead, which ran three seasons on Starz.

Raimi produced, wrote and directed the horror movies and the show.

Evil Dead Rise, the next installment, is set to stream on HBO Max in the United States, on Canal Plus in Britain and on Metropolitan in France.

Vikings actress Alyssa Sutherland and Picnic at Hanging Rock alum Lily Sullivan are to star in the spinoff, which The Hole in the Ground filmmaker Lee Cronin will write and direct.

"At its core, Evil Dead is about ordinary people overcoming extraordinarily terrifying situations," Campbell said. "I can't wait for Alyssa and Lily to fill the blood-soaked shoes of those who have come before them and carry on that tradition."
