The preview shows Mulan (Liu) take up her father's (Tzi Ma) sword to fight on her family's behalf. Donnie Yen co-stars as Mulan's mentor Commander Tung, with Jason Scott Lee as the Hun warrior Bori Khan, Yoson An as Mulan's ally Chen Honghui, Gong Li as the witch Xian Lang and Jet Li as the emperor of China.

"Loyal, brave and true," Mulan says. "It is my duty to protect my family."

Mulan is a live-action remake of Disney's 1998 animated film of the same name. The trailer references songs in the original movie, including "Honor to Us All," "Reflection" and "I'll Make a Man Out of You."

Disney released an official poster for the remake Wednesday.

Mulan is directed by Niki Caro (Whale Rider) and opens in theaters March 27. Caro described the film as "a big, girly martial arts epic" in an interview with MovieFone in 2017.

"It will be extremely muscular and thrilling and entertaining and moving," she said.
