July 30 (UPI) -- John Lennon and Yoko Ono appear in the new trailer for upcoming documentary John & Yoko - Above Us Only Sky, which explores their personal and artistic relationship.
The clip released Tuesday features Lennon and Ono working on the late musician's classic 1971 album, Imagine.
The documentary from director Michael Epstein, will feature never-before-seen footage of Lennon and Ono alongside new interviews with those who knew the couple.
Lennon's former Beatles bandmate, the late George Harrison, also appears through archived footage.
The film was made with the full cooperation of the Yoko Ono and John Lennon estate.
"Above Us Only Sky reveals the depth of the creative collaboration between John and Yoko on John's Imagine album, bringing the period to life while at the same time outlining the relevance of the music and their message to a contemporary audience," reads the synopsis.
"The film examines how the art, activism, politics and music of the pair are intrinsically entwined," it continues.
John & Yoko - Above Us Only Sky, will be available on Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital on Sept. 13.
Lennon, best known as a member of The Beatles, was fatally shot by a deranged fan when he was 40 years old in December 1980.
Ono received credit for the song "Imagine" from the National Music Publishers Association in June 2017. Lennon previously said that Ono should have received credit for the iconic track.
