Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Teen Spirit is giving a first glimpse of Elle Fanning as an aspiring pop star.
The film released a trailer Thursday that features Fanning performing Robyn's hit single "Dancing On My Own."

Fanning plays Violet Valenski, a shy teenager who enters an international singing competition. Zlatko Buric portrays Vlad, Violet's unlikely mentor.
"Turn your sound UP and watch the first trailer for my new movie TEEN SPIRIT, coming to theaters this spring!" Fanning wrote Thursday on Instagram.
Teen Spirit marks Max Minghella's directorial debut. Minghella is an actor known for playing Divya Narendra in the movie The Social Network and Nick Blaine on the Hulu series The Handmaid's Tale.
La La Land producer Fred Berger and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones produced the new film, which opens in theaters in April. The movie co-stars Rebecca Hall, Millie Brady and Olivia Gray.
