Willowdean's bold move soon encourages others to do the same, changing the pageant and a small Texas town in the process.

Willowdean, who is a big fan of Dolly Parton, trains for the pageant by visiting a drag queen show where she meets Ginger Minj of RuPaul's Drag Race fame.

"You know that Dolly saying, figure out who you are and do it on purpose," Minj says to Willowdean when asked for advice. Minj also appeared in Netflix's Super Drags animated series.

Anne Fletcher (The Proposal) is directing Dumplin' from a script by Kristin Hahn. Dumplin' is based on author Julie Murphy's best-selling novel of the same name. Odeya Rush, Dove Cameron, Harold Perrineau and Bex Taylor-Klaus also star.

Dumplin' is set to arrive on Netflix and in select theaters on Dec. 7.
