'Mowgli' is torn between two worlds in latest trailer

Nov. 8 (UPI) -- A young boy raised in the jungles of India discovers he is a human in the latest trailer for Netflix's Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle.

The film, from director Andy Serkis, is a darker take on author Rudyard Kipling's classic tale The Jungle Book.

The clip, released Monday, chronicles the origins of Mowgli, portrayed by Rohan Chand, and his is shock to discover a village filled with others just like him.

As Mowgli wonders if he has found the place where he truly belongs, he must help his friends in the jungle who have come under attack from humans.

"Mowgli has never truly belonged in either the wilds of the jungle or the civilized world of man. Now he must navigate the inherent dangers of each on a journey to discover where he truly belongs," reads the synopsis.

Freida Pinto and Matthew Rhys also star in the film alongside an all-star voice cast that includes Christian Bale, Benedict Cumberbatch, Cate Blanchett and Naomie Harris, among others.

Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, is set to arrive in select theaters and on Netflix on Dec. 7.
