'Crazy Rich Asians' cast, Nicole Kidman honored at Hollywood Film Awards

Nov. 5 (UPI) -- The cast of Crazy Rich Asians, Nicole Kidman and other film stars were honored at the 2018 Hollywood Film Awards.

Crazy Rich Asians star and rapper Awkwafina served as host of the annual event on Sunday, which celebrates achievement in film and kicks off the awards season.

Crazy Rich Asians, which was a hit at the box office when it was released in August, took home the award for Hollywood Breakout Ensemble.

Constance Wu, Awkwafina, Henry Golding, Michelle Yeoh, Gemma Chan, Lisa Lu, Ken Jeong, Sonoya Mizuno, Chris Pang, Jimmy O. Yang, Ronny Chieng, Remi Hii and Nico Santos among others, star in the romantic comedy.

Kidman took home the Hollywood Career Achievement Award.The actress was recognized for her lucrative career and for supporting independent filmmakers, particularly women.

Hugh Jackman won the Hollywood Actor Award for his role in The Front Runner; Glenn Close won the Hollywood Actress Award for her role in The Wife; Damien Chazelle won the Hollywood Director Award for First Man; John David won the Hollywood Breakout Performance Actor Award for his role in BlacKkKlansman; Amandla Stenberg won the Hollywood Breakout Performance Actress Award for her role in The Hate U Give; Black Panther won the Hollywood Film Award; and Incredibles 2 won the Hollywood Animation Award, among others.
