Awkwafina to host 2018 Hollywood Film Awards

Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Actress and rapper Awkwafina will host the 2018 Hollywood Film Awards.

Dick Clark Productions announced in a press release Thursday that the 29-year-old Crazy Rich Asians star will emcee the 22nd annual ceremony Sunday.

The 2018 Hollywood Film Awards will take place at The Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif. The annual awards show celebrates achievement in film and kicks off the awards season.

Nicole Kidman will receive the Hollywood Career Achievement Award during the ceremony. Glenn Close and Hugh Jackman will be honored with the Hollywood Actress Award and Hollywood Actor Award, respectively.

In addition, Awkwafina and the Crazy Rich Asians cast will receive the Hollywood Breakout Ensemble Award. Damien Chazelle will be honored with the Hollywood Director Award, with Timothée Chalamet to receive the Hollywood Supporting Actor Award.

The Hollywood Film Awards confirmed Awkwafina as host in a tweet Thursday.

"@awkwafina from @CrazyRichMovie is hosting the #HollywoodAwards this Sunday!' the post reads.

Awkwafina played Goh Peik Lin in Crazy Rich Asians, which opened in theaters in August. She also appeared in the movies Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising and Ocean's 8.
