'Indiana Jones 5' with Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg delayed

June 29 (UPI) -- A fifth entry in the Indiana Jones series that is reuniting star Harrison Ford with director Steven Spielberg has been delayed.

The film will be missing its previously announced July 10, 2020 release date. Filming was supposed to commence in April 2019 in the U.K. with production being pushed back months, if not a year, Variety reported.

Screenwriter Jonathan Kasdan has also yet to officially sign onto the project, where he is expected to craft a new draft from David Koepp's original screenplay , Deadline reported.

Kasdan is the son of Lawrence Kasdan who penned the first Indiana Jones film, Raiders of the Lost Ark. The father and son duo wrote the script for Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Ford will next be providing his voice in animated sequel Secret Life of Pets 2 while Spielberg is in pre-production on a remake of West Side Story. The filmmaker also plans on helming historical drama The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara starring Mark Rylance.
