June 7 (UPI) -- The Girl in the Spider's Web released an action-packed first trailer Thursday.

The trailer opens with Lisbeth taking revenge on an abusive CEO and husband. Later scenes show Lisbeth facing off with a woman from her past.

The Girl in the Spider's Web is based on the fourth novel in the Millennium book series. David Lagercrantz wrote the novel and a sequel, The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye, following original author Stieg Larsson's death in 2004.

The first three books, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest, were first adapted as Swedish films starring Rapace. Mara later starred in an American adapation of the first novel.

The Girl in the Spider's Web is directed by Fede Alvarez and co-stars Sverrir Gudnason, Sylvia Hoeks and Claes Bang. The movie opens in theaters Nov. 9.
