'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse: Miles meets Peter in new trailer

June 6 (UPI) -- New Spider-Man Miles Morales meets the original wall-crawler Peter Parker in the latest trailer for Sony's upcoming animated feature, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

The clip, released Wednesday, features Miles, voiced by Shameik Moore, as he explains how there are multiple universe with different versions of Spider-Man.

Peter Parker, voiced by Jake Johnson, takes Miles under his wing after meeting the teenager and begins to train him how to use his Spider-Man powers and how to be a superhero. The two are also joined by female web-slinger Spider-Gwen, voiced by Hailee Steinfeld.

The film features a highly stylized art style that mimics the look of a comic book.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman. Phil Lord and Chris Miller are producing the film with a screenplay by Lord.

Mahershala Ali, Liev Schreiber, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez and Lily Tomlin round out the rest of the voice cast. The film is set to arrive in theaters this Christmas.

"Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, and the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where more than one can wear the mask," reads the synopsis.
