May 25 (UPI) -- Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for Sicario: Day of the Soldado, its action-drama starring Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro.

"In the drug war, there are no rules -- and as the cartels have begun trafficking terrorists across the U.S. border, federal agent Matt Graver calls on the mysterious Alejandro, whose family was murdered by a cartel kingpin, to escalate the war in nefarious ways," a message accompanying Thursday's preview said. "Alejandro kidnaps the kingpin's daughter to inflame the conflict -- but when the girl is seen as collateral damage, her fate will come between the two men as they question everything they are fighting for."

The sequel to 2015's Sicario co-stars Isabela Moner, Jeffrey Donovan, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Catherine Keener. Del Toro appeared in the original movie, as well.
