May 11 (UPI) -- Filming is scheduled to begin Friday in New York on The Kitchen, a 1970s drama starring Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish and Elisabeth Moss, New Line Cinema said.

The actresses will play women whose gangster husbands are in prison. The movie's ensemble will include Domhnall Gleeson, James Badge Dale, Brian d'Arcy James, Margo Martindale, Common, Bill Camp, Jeremy Bobb, Alicia Coppola, John Sharian and Myk Watford.

"Left with little but a sharp ax to grind, the ladies take the Irish mafia's matters into their own hands -- proving unexpectedly adept at everything from running the rackets to taking out the competition... literally," a synopsis said.

Andrea Berloff wrote and will direct the comic-book adaptation, which is set for release on Sept. 20, 2019.

"The talent we're putting together for #TheKitchen is exceptional. So happy to have @common & @jamesbadgedale & @myk_watford & @jeremybobb join in the fun. Welcome fellas!" Berloff wrote in an Instagram post last month.
